Swedish Technical Approval

In Sweden there is a voluntary system with approvals and factory production control for material, kits and devices to be used in works. A product having an approval and a decision for factory production control satisfies the requirements in applicable law and provisions in Sweden.

The product properties have been verified by testing at a competent testing laboratory and/or by calculation. The production has been linked to a production control securing the quality. By the production control, the producer has systemised and documented his manufacturing process, which leads to fewer faults and less costs.

The major advantages with an approval are:

• Facilitates the marketing of the product.
• When having a type approval, the intended use and approved properties may not be questioned according to the Law (1994:847) on technical specification requirements for construction work, etc., (BVL).
• Simplifies contacts with the Authorities.
• Facilitates design, installation and control on the building site. Makes it easier for the developer to draw up a control plan.
